Rotem

Color. Movement. Material. Nature.

I make abstract paintings. They start with something seen in nature — water, a field, a change of light — and become a record of movement on the canvas.

The Work

Painting begins with movement.

Nature is the starting point, never the subject. What remains is rhythm, material and color — abstraction that holds onto the feeling of a place without describing it.

The Process

Layers are built, disturbed and rebuilt.
Sometimes the hand replaces the brush,
allowing material, movement and instinct
to shape the work.
